Fighting Sleep
5 minutes | Experimental Film | 2022
Director - Ben Mann, Tim Mann
“Fighting Sleep” is an original piece of choreography created by Sarai Scott Neale in 2022, after she was inspired by a powerful Neo-classical composition, “Above the Treeline”, written for her by composer and musician Jas Scott, performed on cello. It was captured on film and directed by Mann Bros. Media, who collaborated to make this short artistic film during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The two dancers performing in the film, (Sarai Scott Neale and Klaudyna Pawlicka) reflect and characterise two different sides of the same person, Yin and Yang or fire and water. The characters go on a turbulent journey of sadness, conflict, self-reflection and finally self-acceptance.
Sarai who grew up in Leighton Buzzard and has now recently moved back into the area. Mann Bros. Media are two brothers Ben and Tim originally from Slapton and now are London based, they specialise in creative video production. Jas Scott is also living in Leighton Buzzard.
